Thank you so much for your generous contributions for the Easter Baskets.  They look beautiful.  The sixth graders were able to make approximately 35 baskets.  The raffle will begin on March 15th.
We welcomed some new animals to the Science Center this week.  The first is a Western Painted Turtle named Young Sea Turtle.  The other additions are to our fish tank.  The science center is also home to goldfish, a Red-Eared Turtle, a Green Tree Frog, and hermit crabs.
The seeds have begun to sprout in the hydroponics garden and the greenhouse.  The hydroponics garden is home to six plants that grow in a water and fertilizer solution.  The tomato plants in this garden are currently fourteen inches tall and fill the room with a beautiful aroma. One of our many science projects is to compare the growth of plants grown under differing conditions, hydroponics and traditional greenhouse. We now are watching the beans, tomatoes, mint, lettuce, and chives grow. Throughout the year we have been compositing with the help of 1000 red wiggler worms.  We are growing our plants this year with soil that has been mixed with our composted soil.
